The Truman Brewery has made a long-term commitment to the area and has sought to ensure that its proposals are in line with the aspirations of the local community.
We undertook extensive community engagement, including a public exhibition in March 2019 and many meetings with interested local groups and residents. You can find the full materials shared at the public exhibition on the ‘Find out more’ page.
Through the consultation process, local people and groups identified a number of aspects of the proposals that they wanted to see updated so that the scheme could better meet local needs. We have sought to respond to this feedback and accordingly developed our proposals with a number of improvements.
Our latest plans include amended designs that seek to further expand, activate and improve the proposed new public spaces; improve safety and discourage anti-social behaviour; ensure that the proposals are more in keeping with the local context; improve sustainability and biodiversity; and provide further comfort regarding overlooking and privacy for neighbours on Woodseer Street.

These changes have been summarised in the 'Further responses to feedback' section below and further details are available in the Design and Access Statement addendum (link below). We have provided direct links to some of the key planning documents below – the full pack of documents is available on the Tower Hamlets portal. Our amended designs seek to further expand, activate and improve the proposed new public spaces; improve safety and discourage anti-social behaviour; ensure that the proposals are in keeping with the local context; improve sustainability and biodiversity; and address concerns regarding overlooking and privacy for neighbours on Woodseer Street. In November 2020 we submitted amendments to the planning application, originally submitted in February 2020. These include:
